In the ongoing saga of evolutionary development that is NMIMS, it added another chapter in 2007, by establishing the Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce, an attempt to emulate its path breaking endeavors in other fields of education to undergraduate business education. The basic structure, curriculum and pedagogy of undergraduate business education across various universities in India had hardly undergone any significant change in the last one or two decades. Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce brought with it a breath of fresh air into the stale world of rote learning and outdated curriculum in business and management education.

School has three programs "BBA, B.Sc. (Finance) and B.Com (Hons.)". All our programs are full time semester programs. In the academic year 2015 – 16, school launched BBA – MMS dual degree program with an exit option after BBA The purpose of semester scheme is to provide an in depth study of course curriculum. The program is designed by experts from academia and industry. The highlights of the course curriculum are academic rigor, innovative teaching, upgrading the learning process through case studies and presentations and enhancing the overall student experience through interactive class discussions, debates, project based assignments and a system of continuous evaluation. Programs are benchmarked against best schools across globe. Each program is unique.

BBA


The BBA curriculum is designed to provide industry with young managers for entry level positions for their first experience in a corporate role. The curriculum as currently envisaged, offers students a choice of specialization in marketing and/or finance roles in the 3rd year of their program.

With the phenomenal growth in the Indian Economy and the rise of the home grown multinationals, commercial enterprise today is looking at people to take up responsibility at entry levels who are flexible and adaptive to their business environment as well as sensitive enough to respond to the challenges being offered in an increasingly competitive global environment with multifaceted skill sets backed up by a rigorously honed knowledge base. The BBA program has been tailor made to fill in this need. Through a practical approach towards the syllabus, guided by the faculty from the industry itself, students are prepared for the real corporate world. Innovative methods of teaching consisting of case study discussions, presentations, classroom debates and role plays are used to make the classroom experience an invigorating one.

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is spread over 6 semesters with 6 subjects being taught in every semester, which is a total of 36 subjects.

B.Sc. Finance


B.Sc. Finance is 3 years full time semester programme launched by Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce.

The programme aims at providing students with specialized knowledge in the field of finance. It provides advanced understanding of international financial markets, investment analysis, financial risk management, corporate finance, portfolio management, and other aspects of finance domain.

The course is benchmarked with best courses across the globe. It facilitates students to take up CFA, as it covers most of Level-I and part of Level-II of CFA programme. Students can pursue MBA, CA and other professional courses.

A great career opportunity in the field of Banks, Financial Institutions, Insurance Companies, Credit Rating Agencies. Students also has opportunity to work as Investment Analyst and Portfolio Managers.

B.Com (Hons.)


The emphasis of the course is to impart to the students specialized skill sets in the areas of finance, accounting and taxation with a view to careers in financial services. While there is enough diversity in the knowledge base for the B. Com (Hons.) graduates to excel in any field of enterprise of their choice, the primary focus is for them to function as top notch executives in the financial services industry in different fields of operations.

Anil Surendra Modi School of Commerce has a full-fledged Placement Cell to provide placement assistance to BBA, B.Com. (Hons.) and B.Sc. Finance students. The highest salary offered is Rs. 9.24 Lakhs per annum and average salary is Rs. 4.5. Lakhs per annum.

Summer Internship - April - May 2015

It is mandatory for the students of all three programs (BBA, B.Com (Hons.) and B.Sc. (Finance) to undergo Summer Internship at the end of second year. The internship period should be minimum of 8 weeks. This helps the students to understand how the corporate world functions and it further assist them during the placement in final year.

The first batch of our BBA and B.Com (Hons.) students passed out in the year 2009 – 2010. ASM-SOC alumni association was set up in the year 2011 – 12. The objective behind this association is to develop bonding with our ex-students and to keep in touch with them. This also facilitates and encourages alumni to contribute towards school’s efforts for achieving academic excellence. The school plans to organize around two alumni meets in every academic year.
